Is your content actionable — or just theoretical?

On the surface, most advice sounds helpful — but often leaves people unsure of what to actually do.

Take this example:

“Eating slowly can reduce how much you eat, partly because it gives your body time to signal fullness.”

Ok — but is it actionable or practical?

To the expert or coach, it might seem obvious. But what does “eat slowly” actually look like in practice?

Here’s a clearer alternative:

“Use smaller plates and utensils. It makes large bites less likely — and reduces reliance on willpower.”

This is something people can actually do: swap their dinner plate, use a smaller fork, and take smaller bites.

When content isn’t written with behaviour in mind, people walk away knowing something — but not knowing what to do with it.

This applies to coaching as much as training. If your guidance doesn’t translate into behaviours, it won’t lead to change.
